Andel Plastics

‘We didn’t know how much we were missing, until we had it!’

Established in 1975, Andel Plastics is an exemplary full-service injection moulding facility with an in-house toolroom and class 7 cleanroom. Andel also offers a full range of assembly services, post machining, ultrasonic welding and a printing service.

Andel Plastics have been able to remain open during the Covid-19 lockdown. Having a toolroom in-house in the UK has been a massive advantage and the toolmaker team have pulled out all the stops for NHS tooling and moulding to help in the fight.

Andel implemented Intouch in 2018, using the system to monitor its 20 injection moulding machines and 2 CNC machining centres.

‘We didn’t know how much we were missing, until we had it!’

Helena Flowers, MD of Andel commented:

‘The real-time data we view allows us to quickly identify issues on the production run, reduce scrap and downtime on the machines accordingly.  This is paramount to being able to identify any issues and get to the root cause of them efficiently, but also ensures that we can react quickly to ensure that customer orders are met in full and on time.’

  • Identify issues
  • Solve issues quickly
  • Meet delivery deadlines

‘We most regularly use the scheduling of orders onto the machines: this enables us to immediately see whether we are running over or under capacity and allows us to react quickly.’

  • See whether they are over or under capacity
  • React quickly

Andel finds the ability to monitor their cycle times consistently over a production run as well as keeping a tally on scrap produced means that they can charge their customers a price in-line with actual production costs.

Intouch’s customer service is excellent with requests for customisation and additional reports dealt with professionally and speedily.
