intouch core training module
1.2 - Managing user preferences
TL;DR
Click the Account icon in the top right of Intouch, then Preferences. Choose your settings and click Save. The page reloads with your new preferences, which are saved to your user account.
- Pick the screen you see when you log in (Launch Mimic).
- Choose your button ribbon and button size.
- Lock a machine-side tablet to one machine and hide the navigator.
Why it’s useful
- The right screen first. Operators can open straight on their machine HMI and managers on the factory overview, so nobody clicks around to find their view.
- Turn a tablet into an operator terminal. Tie a low-cost tablet to one machine and hide everything else, giving you a dedicated shop-floor screen with no extra hardware.
- Fits any screen. Large buttons for touchscreens on the shop floor, smaller ones for a desk PC, and a ribbon that tucks away on small screens.
Step by step
- Open the Account menu. In the top right of the screen there are three round icons. Click the one on the far right: your Account.
- Click Preferences. The same menu also has Change Password, Calculator, Reload Page and Log Off.

The Account menu in the top right of the screen. - Choose your settings. The Preferences window opens over your dashboard.

Set up a tablet as a machine-side operator screen
Many customers fit a low-cost tablet at each machine. Log in on the tablet, open Account > Preferences and set:
- Launch Mimic: HMI
- Focus Machine: the machine the tablet is fixed to
- Button Ribbon: Main, with Button Size Large or Medium
- Unpin Button Ribbon: Overlay, if the screen is small
- Untick Show Navigator, then click Save
Any tablet that runs a modern web browser such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox will work. We recommend a screen larger than 7 inches, and we test against the Lenovo Tab M10 HD. To stop users closing the browser, use a third-party kiosk-mode app. See our FAQ for details.
Common questions
The buttons at the top of my screen have disappeared. How do I get them back?
Open Account > Preferences and set Button Ribbon back to Main, the default. If Unpin Button Ribbon is set to Overlay, hover over the Intouch logo at the top of the screen to show the ribbon.
How do I change my password?
Click the Account icon in the top right and choose Change Password. If you have forgotten your password, email i4support@intouchmonitoring.com and we will reset it.
Can I stop operators leaving the Intouch screen on a tablet?
Yes. Set a Focus Machine, untick Show Navigator and use a kiosk-mode app on the tablet, as described above.
I saved my preferences but nothing changed.
The page reloads by itself after you click Save. If it does not, choose Account > Reload Page.
